TIC eLearning Platform (https://elearning.tichk.org) is owned by the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC) that provides users (you) with travel-related online training courses. This Privacy Policy describes our policy and practices regarding our collection and handling of information and all personal data are handled in strict adherence to the relevant provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PD(P)O).
By accessing TIC eLearning Platform (Platform) and utilising our information, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and the information collection and handling practices outlined in it.
As a public visitor to the Platform, you can view many contents and activities without providing any Personal Information.
When you register to use Platform user account, use our e-learning services, or view our events and information, we may collect the following Personal Information from you:
Depending upon the activity, some of the information that we ask you to provide is identified as mandatory and some as optional. If you do not provide the mandatory data with respect to a particular activity, you will not be able to engage in that activity.
As is true of most websites, when you use the Platform, or third-party sub processors contracted by TIC may also collect certain technical and routing information about your computer to facilitate your use of the Platform and its services. For example, we may log environmental variables, such as browser type, operating system, CPU speed, and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer. We use these environmental variables to facilitate and track your use of the Platform and its services. TIC also uses such environmental variables to measure traffic patterns on the Platform. To better understand the needs of our visitors to the Platform we may occasionally match such information with your Personal Information.
Upon request TIC will provide you with information about and access to your Personal Information that we process.
You have the right to access and correct, or delete your Personal Information at any time. This may be accomplished by clicking on the link, " Account Setup", where you can view and make changes to most of your Personal Information immediately. If you wish to delete your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, you may contact us at training@tichk.org. We will respond to your request promptly within a reasonable timeframe.
Cookies are small text files that containing small amounts of information and may be stored on any internet browser of your internet enabled devices, e.g. your computer, smartphone or tablet. It often includes an anonymous unique identifier. A cookie can be used to identify a computer. It, however, is not used to collect any personal information.
Please note that some cookies on the Platform are managed by third parties, including features such as maps and social media APIs. You should refer to the third parties’ own privacy policies about how they may use your information.
We automatically collect and store the date and time when you successfully log into the Platform with your user account, i.e. the cookie that enables you to log into restricted area of Platform.
We take reasonable and practical steps to ensure that all collected information is stored in a secure environment accessed only by authorised persons. In addition, we use encryption when transmitting information between your system and ours. However, we give no warranty against third parties hacking into the data or any unauthorised access to the data by anyone.
TIC uses one or more outside credit card processing companies to bill you for our goods and services. To the best of our knowledge, these companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any other purpose.
We also share Personal Information with certain companies that perform services on our behalf. We only share the Personal Information which is necessary for them to perform those services. We require any company with which we may share Personal Information to protect that data in a manner consistent with this policy and to limit the use of such Personal Information to the performance of services for the Platform.
We do not sell or otherwise provide Personal Information to other companies for the marketing of their own products or services.
We will retain your information for as long as your account is active and your information is needed to provide you services, as necessary to validate or enforce the licenses to use Content, or as required to fulfill our legal obligations. If you wish to delete your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you with services, please contact us at training@tichk.org. We will respond to your request within 30 days. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
The Platform includes links to other websites whose privacy practices may differ from those of Platform. If you submit personal information to any of those sites, your information is governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy policy of any website you visit.
You may be able to log in to our Platform using sign-in services from the TIC website. This service will authenticate your identity and provide you the option to share certain personal information with us such as your name and email address to pre-populate our sign-up form.
The Platform may change or modify this Privacy Policy in the future. We will record the date that revisions were last made to this Privacy Policy at the bottom of this page, and any revisions will take effect upon posting. We encourage you to check this Privacy Policy from time to time to review the most current version.
