People submitting their application for the Tourist Guide Licence on or after 1 September 2022 are required to fulfil the CPD requirement which is only considered complied with if all courses or activities are completed within the validity period of the tourist guide licence. In other words, completion of courses or activities while the licence has already expired will not be accepted.
‘Knowledge on Hong Kong’ Quiz, which is one of the three elements of the Continuing Professional Development Scheme specified by the Travel Industry Authority for Tourist Guides, aims to help the licenced tourist guides to consolidate and update their knowledge on Hong Kong. Tourist guides must pass this quiz before renewing their licence.
Having reached the age of 18 years; holding a valid tourist guide licence
The Quiz contains 40 multiple-choice questions. The duration is 1 hour 30 minutes. Candidates may choose the test paper in Chinese or English.
All the questions are taken from the “Knowledge on Hong Kong Quiz - Revision Notes” which will be e-mailed to the candidates once their applications are accepted.
Each question paper contains 40 questions. Candidates must answer at least 32 questions correctly in order to pass the Quiz.
Quiz fee：HK$200.
1. A maximum of 25 people is limited for each ‘Knowledge on Hong Kong’ Quiz. The TIC Training Centre is located at Room 1706, 17th Floor, Fortress Tower, 250 King’s Road, North Point, Hong Kong.
2. Candidates must bring a valid "Tourist guide card" and Hong Kong Identity Card for identity verification and registration purposes.
3. Candidates who are late after the published starting time of quiz will be regarded as giving up the quiz and will NOT be permitted to enter the quiz venue.
4. Once an activity has been registered, no changes or cancellations will be permitted.
5. If a candidate is absent from the activity, all paid fees will not be refunded.
6. Quiz results will be released by email within four weeks after the quiz.
This activity has been officially recognized by the Travel Industry Authority as part of the “Continuing Professional Development Scheme for Tourist Guides” - Part A: Consolidation and updating of knowledge. Participants who meet the attendance and related requirements will receive an email notification and electronic certificate of attendance within four weeks after activity completion. Whether this certificate satisfies the criteria for licence renewal of tour guide is subject to the latest guidelines published by the Travel Industry Authority.
